The Ontario Lottery and Gaming Corporation (OLG) has announced a new sports betting partner, handing the reins to Kambi Group—an industry-leading B2B sportsbook technology provider. This move sees Kambi Group assume the longstanding OLG contract from Française des Jeux (FDJ Group), marking a major shake-up in Ontario’s evolving sports wagering landscape.
On Monday, Kambi Group confirmed its agreement with FDJ Group to become OLG’s official sportsbook partner. This transition aligns with FDJ’s strategic restructuring, which led to Kambi being named as the preferred assignee—with OLG’s final approval contingent upon meeting certain conditions. The comprehensive migration is slated to wrap up in the second half of 2025, while the contract itself extends until 2032.
As a crown corporation under the Government of Ontario, OLG oversees numerous gaming facilities, charitable gaming initiatives, and province-wide lottery products. It also operates online sports betting and iGaming services through its Proline brand, complemented by a broad retail network of nearly 10,000 locations. Given that all OLG proceeds are reinvested in the province, this partnership holds significant potential for enhancing community benefits.
Ontario’s commercial iGaming market, launched in April 2022, now encompasses around 50 licensed operators—including top names like FanDuel, BetMGM, and DraftKings. OLG’s gross online casino and sports betting revenue hit $630 million in FY 2023-24, up from $561 million the previous year. The wider private market saw $64 billion in total wagers, generating $2.4 billion in gaming revenue during the same period. According to H2 Gambling Capital, OLG captures 16% of the provincial market, while commercial operators command 78% and offshore sites account for 5%. H2’s estimates—based on web traffic, affiliate insights, and search data—also rank bet365 as the leading private operator (15%), followed by FanDuel (13%), Betano (9%), and Super Group (8%). BetMGM, Entain, and BetRivers each hold 7%.
Kambi Group believes its advanced sportsbook solutions, paired with OLG’s established local presence and Proline branding, will elevate the user experience for Ontario bettors. This partnership is expected to fortify OLG’s market position amid the province’s increasingly competitive online gaming environment.
